Definition:
A file unit which typically comes in widths of 30", 36" or 42". And contains 2, 3, 4 or 5 drawers high. Lateral files can be utilized to file documents side to side in the drawers or front to back. Additional bars will be required for front to back filing. Lateral files can also accommodate letter or legal sized filing.
